DENVER ( KDVR ) — A driver crashed into a Denver woman’s only place to live, letting her dog out in the process. Now she’s trying to figure out where to go next.
Pictures show the car that smashed into Sandi Pino’s RV Saturday near East 39th Avenue and Grape Street. Her son took a video when the driver miraculously made it out of the flipped car and started to walk away.
“Thing ran amazing, I just bought it,” Pino said, looking at her now smashed-in RV. “Unfortunately, I did not have it insured yet because sometimes when it rains, it pours.”
According to the Denver Police Department, the driver tried to get away but police found him and cited him on counts of careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without insurance.
“This is everything that I have,” Pino said. “This is my house. I mean, I’m homeless now. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’m more worried about finding my dog than anything. It’s just tragic.”

Pino said her 7-month-old great Pyrenees named Bunny got out of the RV after the crash.
“The whole body of the RV is falling off, basically, and my door opened in the middle of the night, and my dog ran away,” Pino said. “I’m currently mainly worried about trying to find her. She had a harness on and she had a tan leash and a blue rope was tied to that.”
After Pino’s story aired on FOX31, a viewer reached out saying they were taking care of a lost pup. FOX31’s Nicole Fierro connected Pino to the viewer and learned that Bunny had returned home.
“This has restored my faith in humanity,” said Pino to Fierro.
